The Young, Facebook, Twitter, and Blogging

There is an interesting article in USA Today at http://www.usatoday.com/tech/wireless/2010-02-04-teens online04_ST_N.htm. It talks about how teens prefer using Facebook vs. Twitter and blogging. I can see that. Twitter is a one shot, this is what I'm up to post, where Facebook offers a lot more interaction; it is more social.

It's a little disappointing that they are not blogging as much.  Writing is one of the things that we all should do more of, and the blog can be used as a great form of self expression.

Another article to have a look at is this one: http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2009-08-24-narcissism-young_N.htm.  It talks about how teens are using social networks for attention seeking and self promotion.  Of course they are.  Having the number of friends one has online posted at the doorway to ones profile is probably the most obvious indicator.

A great resource if you are interested in learning more can be found at http://www.pewinternet.org/
